NPP Condem the attack on Carol singing Priests and Seminarians in Madhya Pradesh

Shillong, December 17: The National People’s Party condemns the vicious attacks on Catholic Priests and Seminarians in Satna in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on the night of 14th December 2017.

NPP  national president Conrad K. Sangma who was informed  about the incident  by Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, SFX, Secretary General Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India this morning, had taken up the matter with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju.

Sangma urged the central government to take up the matter with the Madhya Pradesh government and arrest those persons involved in the attack.

Any form of violence in the name of religion needs to be stopped immediately through a collective and strong political will by the government, both at (the) central and state levels, Sangma said.

The NPP appeals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act swiftly and boldly to safeguard the fundamental religious rights of worshippers of all faiths, to ensure security in the face of violence and to guarantee justice for all people.
