Shillong, December 11: The National People’s Party (NPP) today decided to filed Mr Rohibul Islam the younger brother of late Maninrul Islam Sarkar to contest from Phulbari Constituency. He is currently the MDC from Shyamnagar in the GHADC from the NPP.
The announcement of Mr Rahibul as the NPP candidate came through the party president, Conrad K Sangma, MP of Tura today. Mr Rahibul is a lawyer by profession and was practicing law in various Courts across the state. The death of Manirul comes as a huge blow to the NPP where Sarkar was a front runner for the seat
This decision filed Mr Rahibul was taken at the party meeting of the NPP held at Ringrey Auditorium of West Garo Hills,Tura under the chairmanship Smti Ferlin Sangma in the presence of Mr Yunam Joy Kumar Deputy C.M, Mr Jainta Kumar Health Minister,Mr Neptao Haokip Sports Minister, Mr M Kaiasil Transport Minister of NPP Minister from Manipur, Mr Conrad Sangma, NPP National President,Mr James, National Spokesperson,Smt Agatha K Sangma, ex-MP, Shri Nihim D Shira, MLA.
Out of 24 MLA seats in the Garo Hills region the NPP party has already declared their candidates from 15 constituencies, from Mendipathar Mr F W Momin, Resubelpara Mr Timothy D Shira, Songsak Mr Nihim D Shira, Williamnagar Mr Marcuise N Marak, Raksamgre Mr Benedict R Marak, Rajabala Dr Mizanur Kazi, Selsella Smti F C A Sangma, Daddengre Mr James K Sangma, North Tura Mr Thomas A Sangma, South Tura Smti Agatha K Sangma, Phulbari Mr Rohibul Islam, Mahendraganj Mr Sanjay A Sangma, Salmanpara Mr Lanbothan K Sangma, Dalu Mr Wanning A Sangma, Baghmara Mr Sengnal A Sangma.
