One day Crisis Management Workshop held in Shillong today organised by the SDMA

Shillong, 15th May 19: A workshop on Crisis Management organized by Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with British High Commissioner, Kolkata was held here today which was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, P W Ingty as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering during the Inaugural Session the Chief Guest while thanking the British High Commission, Kolkata for collaborating with the State government in organizing the workshop said that the objective of the workshop is to establish a working relationship among the key stakeholders and key responders to respond to any disaster or calamity in the most effective and efficient manner.

He also added that the State Disaster Management has conducted a number of exercises and mock drills in the event of a natural disaster like Earthquake but the State is also hit by different kinds of disasters like landslides, being trapped in a bore well etc.

He further said that the State Disaster Management Authority should also be prepared for such disasters. The Chief Guest also launched the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority logo during the occasion.

Among others who spoke during the Inaugural Session were Sanjibita R Mc Donald Tariang Sen, Vice Consul, Eastern & North Eastern India, British High Commission, Kolkata, I Mawlong, Executive Director, SDMA and Joint Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Meghalaya, D D Shira.
