One lakh stranded people of all NE states arrived by Shramik Special Trains including Meghalaya

Maligaon, May 30: The  Indian Railways has run more than 3840 Shramik Special trains, carrying over 52 lakh passengers. Nearly 60 percent of trains originated from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Punjab and nearly 80 percent trains are mainly going towards various districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Most of the destinations in Uttar Pradesh are around Lucknow – Gorakhpur sector and in Bihar around Patna.

Nearly 100000 stranded people of all NE states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland arrived in the railway stations located in states like Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam till yesterday in sixty-three Shramik Special trains. About 20 more such Shramik Special trains will be arriving in the coming days in these states with stranded people spreading throughout the country.

The 22 Shramik Special trains have originated from various NE states under the jurisdiction of N. F. Railway to carry stranded people from these states to their native places. While more than three hundred twenty trains arrived in Bihar areas under NFR till today.

And about ten such trains will be arriving in various stations of North Bengal under NFR by today. All these Shramik Special trains helped about 5 lakhs stranded people to reach their home state during lock-down period till today.

In NFR areas under Katihar division of Bihar trains arrived at stations like Katihar, Purnea, Arraria, Kishanganj. About 20(twenty) more Shramik Special Trains will be arriving in these stations by next 2 days by carrying stranded people of Bihar from various locations of our country.

The top three states from where maximum trains originated are Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab. As 80 percent of total Shramik Special trains are running towards few particular states.

Increased time taken in the de-boarding of passengers due to the various health and social distancing protocols at the stations also leads to congestion some time. However, it may be noted that trains running today are not facing any congestion.

The IRCTC and Railways have mobilized resources to ensure regular supply of meals and water to the Shramik Special trains and minimize inconvenience to the passengers. After the Shramik Special trains arrives in the jurisdiction of NFR for onward journey towards various locations in NE states.

The Indian Railway ensured that all the passengers get sufficient food and drinking water for the further journey period. From 7th May to 29th May nearly 280000 meals were provided in NFR areas to passengers of various Shramik Special trains at various locations.
