PM SHRI Schools will help showcase the implementation of the National Edu Policy, 2020

Shillong, Dec 17: The Education Department, Government of Meghalaya held an event to commemorate the achievements of the government in the Education front.

The function was graced by the presence of Education Minister, Home, etc., Mr. Lahkmen Rymbui, Commissioner and  Secretary of Education, Education Department, Dr. B. D. R. Tiwari, Secretary of Education, Government of Meghalaya, Shri. Ambrose Ch. Marak.

Director, DERT Smti. C D Lyngwa, Director DSEL, Smti. R. M Kurbah, , Additional Project Director, CLLMP-MBMA, Shri. Gunanka DB, IFS. Hundreds of MDM cooks-cum-helpers, and school students along with other government officials were present.

This programme highlighted the following achievements, the 2nd Virtual Launch of Infrastructure Up gradation of Government Lower Primary Schools under Meghalaya School Infrastructure Up gradation Programme Phase–I.

The infrastructure work of 50 schools was completed and the same were officially inaugurated by Dy. Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Prestone Tynsong, in the presence of Shri. Lahkmen Rymbui, Education Minister, Home, etc.

The first launch was held on the 29th November 2022 whereby 50 number of Government Lower Primary Schools were inaugurated. In total, 100 schools have been inaugurated out of the 191 schools stated for infrastructure upgradtion under Phase-I.

PM SHRI Schools which will help showcase the implementation of the National Education Policy, 2020 and emerge as exemplar schools over a period of time.

The aim of this scheme is to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment where a wide range of learning experiences would be offered with good physical infrastructure and appropriate resources conducive to learning.

The Scheme is proposed to be implemented over a period of 5 years with effect from  2022-23 to 2026-27 Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) earlier known as the National Programme of Mid-Day Meal in Schools is one of the foremost rights based Centrally Sponsored Schemes under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA).

The primary objective of the scheme is to improve the nutritional status of children studying in Classes I VIII in eligible schools. The state Government has increased the honorarium of the Mid Day Meal cooks to INR 2000 per month from the current INR 1000 per month, which was a long demand of the MDM cooks Vidya Amrit Mahotsav (VAM) Meghalaya- Micro Improvement Led Innovative Pedagogy Festival.

The objectives laid out in the National Education Policy 2020 necessitate fostering new behaviour and practices in all stakeholders of the school education system. VAM is a National Innovative Pedagogy Festival, announced on August 25, 2022 to promote and recognize innovations that all teachers, teacher educators and school leaders across India bring to their classrooms and schools.

It also strives to encourage, recognize and nurture innovations in the form of micro-improvements across the education system, to create a more conducive learning environment by making the improvement process easy, simple and achievable. KYAN device. CLLMP is a project under MBMA that support schools through provision of facilities such as furniture, smart classes and others in their project village.

In this particular project they have provided KYAN (an integrated system) devices to about 800+ Schools from Upper Primary to Higher Secondary School to impart smart classes.

The Minister highlighted the incremental improvement of the education scenario in the state by highlighting certain issues addressed by the government such as the approval for setting up of government colleges across the state.

The improvements in PGI score, the increase of salaries of Adhoc teachers and Pre Primary teachers, the increase in honorarium of MDM cook-cum-helper, etc. Shri Rymbui stated that in the last 5 years they have laid the foundation for improvement of the Education sector through the various initiatives undertaken, which will give momentum for future improvements.

He urged the educators to the state to effectively mobilise enrollment under NISHTHA 4.0 (under DIKSHA) a training which focuses on Early Childhood Care and Education the last date for which has been extended to 31 December 2022 and to actively participate in carrying out micro-improvements projects under VAM Meghalaya.
