Shillong, September 14: On Wednesday night at around 8.30 PM a search team comprising of Chokpot police and Cobra team recovered two numbers of powerful IED’s from the forest area near Keni Badima and Kakija area in South Garo Hills District.
The Police said that this has a connection with the last encounter with the GNLA on the night of 10th September 2017, an extensive search operation was launched by a team of SF- 10 Commando’s and CoBRA in the nearby areas to try to nab and Locate the escaping the GNLA for the last two continuous days.
The search operation team acting on the reliable source information managed to locate two number of powerful Claymore type IED’s from the forest area near Keni Badima and Kakija under Chokpot police station of South Garo hills which were left behind by the GNLA cadres who were on the run.
These recovered IED’s were strongly indicated that GNLA, was planning to use it for targeting police personnel moving in vehicle or general public in market area to create fear psychosis but due to timely arrival of police team in the area on 10th September 2017, leading to exchange of fire between south Garo hills team and GNLA terrorist group had foiled GNLA plan.
Accordingly Bomb Squad team from 2nd MLP BN, Goeragre arrived late last night at Chokpot police station and diffused the two IED’s today morning dated, at around 2.20 AM at Kakija.
