Police warn people who posts objectionable explicit content online on social media

Shillong, April 28: There is a rising trend among the general public to post share objectionable explicit content online on social media on individual person as well as spread wild rumors on social media platform, such as facebook, whatApp and Youtube.

Recently a video clip of girls was posted and share on facebook, which has caused distress to the victim girl and the family members. It is advices that if anyone having information on any racket should immediately report the matter to the police who can verify the same and take action on the matter.

It also advice to all the public, specially the youth   to restrain from capturing images or any act of their dear and love one and disseminate to the third person  or post on the social media without their consent as this is an offence.

Some persons without verification of the content unscrupulously posting, share and spread and maliciously post comment on the same unverified posts.

Therefore from the office of the superintendent of police East Khasi Hills District would like to inform that such irresponsible post can bring about immense to the person whom targeted. Such act is strictly punishable by law as per provision of IT Act, 2000 and under the Indian Penal Code. Hence, the general public is advised to refrain from vilifying person using social media.
