Shillong, January 12: Meghalaya Power Minister, Shri S. Dhar flagged off 10 Meghapower Vans today at MeECL Headquater, Lum Jingshai, Shillong. The vans will be used for emergency duties related to electricity based complaints. During the day the Minister also launched the newly designed MeECL website: www.meecl.nic.in where the consumers can access for information on MeECL, electricity tariff rates, new connections and online payment of electricity bills besides other facilities. The website will also cater to other queries pertaining to any other consumer affairs.
Terming Power sector as a vital sector which deals with each and every household in the State, the Meghalaya Power Minister, Shri S. Dhar in his speech as Chief Guest said that the new initiative taken up by the Government will be able to effectively address the complaints related to power and electricity received on a day to day basis. While highlighting the issues relating to the shortage of power supply and the prevalence of electricity theft, Shri Dhar also urged the Deputy Commissioners in the Districts to convene a meeting with the Headmen of respective villages in order to address and find a permanent solution to curb electricity theft. He also said that through awareness programmes this problem can also be addressed effectively.
The Minister also said that the website will not only provide information on MeECL and ease the problem of consumers queuing up for hours in order to pay their electricity bills, but will also provide transparency in its dealings with the public. “I hope that with this new initiative, consumer complaints, mostly in rural areas, will be catered and addressed to in a more effective and speedy way”, he added.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya & CMD, MeECL, Shri P. S. Thangkhiew and Principal Secretary, Power, Shri M. S. Rao also spoke at the function. Director (Distribution), MePDCL, Shri T. Passah delivered the welcome address while Chief Engineer, MeEPDCL, Shri M. Shangpliang proposed the vote of thanks.

In inviting a reference letter No. F. No. MsERC/CGRF/2017/43 Dated the 24 March 2017 from the Secretary MsERC Shillong I would like to bring your kind notice for the above mentioned subject. I have already submitted all relevent papers, documents and records to the Legal Law Officer MeECL and Assistant Executive Engineer Sub Div- 1 MePDCL for the unauthorised domestic power connection and for unauthorised RCC Building by Lt. Arup Dutta Medhi and his family without prior Building permission Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) and the domestic power line has since been enjoying stealthilly by Lt. Arup Dutta Medhi’s families by back door to their new R.C.C Building since their occupation from the year 2001 as stated earlier in my previous petition to Assis Executive Engineer Revenue Sub-Div- I by violating the department rules and regulation of law i.e (Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission ) MSERC and is liable to fall U/S 135 for unauthorised power connection and U/S 135-139 for dishonest abstruction of energy submitted fraudulent bills in the name of deceased person of Lt. Ram Dutta Medhi submitted to the court in order to regularized and to get their illegal possession ownership and claimancy from the sold land and Assam-type Building holding No. 266 May 2003 of Mr. W.P. Mawlong of Mowlai instead of transferring the ID code of power line and holding No. 266 from the sold house, but subsequently Arup Dutta Medhi’s families completely ceased all the i.e Electricity Power Line with Metre including holding No. 266 etc. during the time while Mr. W.P. Mawlong sold the aforesaid property to Mrs. Kurba in the year 2004 which are quite aware of Assist- Executive Engineer sub division-I MEPDCL, Shillong.
Now the question arises as to how the deptt concerned authority installed the power line to the residence of Lt. Arup Dutta Medhi’s families from the sold land without any valid facts and records, licensing authority papers, documents, etc. pertaining to power line and gift deed which was also not registered they want to change the I.D name to Regina Khongwir from the deceased person Lt. Ram Dutta Medhi.
In the year 1994 resulting some sort of gross anomalies, manupulation and misdeeds was done amongst the parties with the department which was occured during execution.
At last, I request your honour to look into the matter and also urged to set up in departmental enquiry at an early date as I am not getting any constructive replies so long since 2004 from your concerning department to this effect.
And early reply is solicited.
And this may be treated as top priority.
