Ranikor Constituency of South West Khasi Hills District has only one Bank

Shillong, April 14: Ranikor Constituency under South West Khasi Hills District, border Bangladesh has only one Bank, The State Bank of India at Ranikor Village, which most of the time is not served the need of the people.

There is an urgent need for the people of Nongjri area to have a Bank in their locality since the area is a commercial area where there is one land custom station at Borsora, having three export points, Borsora, Sherakaw and Bagli, the business community from this area dependent on the Bank in the state capital Shillong.

There are  around fifteen villages in Nongjri area under South West Khasi Hills District, where the people of the area has to come all the way to Ranikor bor the banking if they need, but for business community they have to travel around 120 Km to reach Shillong for their need.

Many elders from the  area told SP News Agency express that there is a need to have a Bank in Nongjri area, earlier they say that Bank cannot have a Brach in Nongjri area because there is no Police Station, at present there is a Police Station at Nonghyllam, if the authority concern are thing about the area will be good to have one Bank at Nongjri area.

As of now the Ranikor Constituency has only one Bank that is State Bank of India, at Ranikor where there is a Block Ranikor Block. To served to the need of the people in the remot Constituency, the area need to have two Branch, one at Nongjri and the other at Umdohlun area.
