Regular class will start from 30th of this month for class IX to XII in urban and Rural areas: Lahkmen

Shillong, Nov 24:  The Education Minister of Meghalaya Mr Lahkmen Rymbui today said that regular class to start for class IX to class XII in urban areas, and in rural areas from class VI to class Xii from 30th November 2020 this month.

Speaking to media at his office the Education Minister said that the decision was taken at the meeting with the official of the department, in the urban areas regular class for class IX to class XII in the urban areas and in the rural areas from class VI to Class XII including JNV School.

The Education Minister also said that only 30% of the students are availing the on line class while 70% of the students do not have the opportunity to do online classes in the state, base on this the education department has taken this decision to allowed schools to have  regular classes for the students both in urban and rural area.

In the meeting the department has also taken the decision that the academic calendar years of this 2020 has been extended up the month of February 2021 and for the examination they will take the decision only when the syllabus will upto 99.9%.

Mr Lahkmen also inform that all the School in the rural areas from Class VI to class XII they can have their regular class, but for Nongpoh, Khanapara in Ri Bhoi District, Jowai of West Jaintia Hills , Tura of West Garo Hills  and Nongfstoin of West Khasi  if they wish to have regular class they have to write to the DSEO or SDO to obtain permission for opening of the Schools.
