SDRF Aids District Authority in clearing landslide that occurred at Ryndang Briew

Shillong, September 04:  The unabated downpour in the state in the past two days unleash yet another hazardous situation on the roads of Shillong as a major landslide at Ryndang Briew, Umiam blocked almost the entire road on Sunday night.

The emergency services responded immediately to the crisis along with the SDRF who were pressed into action to support the PWD and Forest Department clearing the debris and uprooted trees on the road. A team of 13 SDRF personnel led by Inspector Willy Nonglang rushed to the scene of occurrence.

Apart from ensuring safety in the site of incident, the SDRF also regulated the vehicular traffic plying through the vital NH6 road. As a major part of the road was cleared on Sunday midnight, the SDRF team returned to its base. Meanwhile work for clearing up all the debris is still going on. Fortunately, no one was injured in this landslide.
