Shillong Lajong defeated Rangdajied United in the Shillong Premier League by 4-2

Shillong, Sept 03: The Shillong Lajong displayed a stunning performance in the second half and came from behind to register a 4-2 victory over Rangdajied United in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium in Shillong.

Rangdajied started off the first half on the front foot and took the lead early in the 6th minute through A. Z. Mawthoh from open play. Despite conceding early. Lajong boys were patient and controlled possession, slowly building their attacking strategy.

It was only in the second half that Lajong eventually equalised when the referee awarded a penalty and Sheen Sohktung stepped up for Lajong to level the score in the 52nd minute. However, Rangdajied United regained their lead after a defensive lapse from Lajong as S. Nongrum scored in the 61st minute.

Lajong didn’t lose hope as they levelled the score for the second time in the match after a brilliant ball from Mahesh towards the box led to Sheen passing it towards Samuel Lalmuanpuia in the middle who made no mistake in converting in the 71st minute.

Novin Gurung found his name on the scoresheet in the 76th minute after smashing a volley towards goal from a corner to give Lajong a 3-2 lead. It was a fantastic come back for Lajong as Samuel scored his second goal in the 84th minute after Mahesh took a long range shot and the Rangdajied United keeper could not keep it away from the onrushing Samuel to give Lajong a 4-2 lead.

Shillong Lajong emerged victorious after a hard fought match and they will play their next SPL match on 10th September against Nangkiew Irat.
