Shillong Lajong will play against Indian Arrows in the I-League tomorrow

Shillong January 07: After earning their first point of 2018 against Chennai City, Shillong Lajong FC are all set to host the AIFF Developmental Side, Indian Arrows on 8th January at the JN Stadium Shillong at 5:30 PM. The tickets for the match will be available at the SSA Stadium Ticket Counter in Polo Ground, The Mobile Centre Police Bazaar and Sports Spirit MUDA Complex Police Bazaar.

The Reds are coming into this game after playing a goalless draw against Chennai City FC on 5th January in Shillong. Lajong had many chances in this match and were a much dominant side than Chennai but unfortunately were not able to convert their chances into goals.

Shillong Lajong is currently in the 5th position with 11 points from 8 games. They have won and lost thrice and drawn two times.

Shillong Lajong Head Coach Bobby Nongbet said, “We are ready for Monday’s game and the boys have improved a lot and we hope that they will give their best.”

“We just played Chennai last Friday and immediately began our preparations for the Indian Arrows’ game. We have worked towards improving our weak areas and we want to pick up maximum points from this fixture.”

The last time Shillong Lajong and Indian Arrows met was in New Delhi on 26th December in 2017. The AIFF Developmental side won this game by a 3-0 margin. Jitendra Singh, Nongdamba Naorem and Rahul Kannooly Balan scored the goals for Arrows.

The Indian Arrows are heading into Monday’s clash after losing by 2-1 against Neroca FC in Manipur. Abhijit Sarkar was the solitary goal provider during this game for the young all Indian side.These youngsters have managed to collect 7 points from 8 outings and are currently in the 8th position with 7 points.

The matches they won were against Chennai City and Lajong. They drew against Mohun Bagan in Kolkata. They have lost games to Minerva Punjab twice, Gokulam Kerala, East Bengal and recently to Neroca.

Boris Singh, Aniket Jadhav, Abhijit Sarkar, Jitendra Singh, Nongdamba Naorem and Rahul Balan have registered their names on the score sheet for the Arrows so far this season.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s clash, Luís Norton de Matos said, “We are a very young team and we can show that we can get good results.”

“I am very satisfied with what we are doing now because we have only Indian players without any foreigners. All the players are mostly 16-18 years old.”

“I know Lajong want to win the game on Monday and they will be very motivated”, he said.

Lajong is hopeful to find their winning form at home again against the Indian Arrows on Monday evening in what will be a crucial and entertaining clash between the two sides.
