Shillong, April 27: The BJP MLA, Shri Sanbor Shullai and BJP Mahila Morcha led by Arena Hynniewta on 25th April 2022, felicitated local athlete Smti Darisuk Kharwanlang and provided her with a financial assistance to help her prepare and participate in the 2nd KGMF National Athlete Championship in 35-year upto 80 years category.
She’s 48 years old and a mother of 8 children. She has been actively involved in the sports and has bagged several awards and bought fame to the state. The BJP MLA promised to take her story with the government and to secure all the necessary help for her to continue participation and mount a serious challenge to win the event.
The BJP Mahila leader Smti Arena Hynniewta too highlighted the poor state of sporting personnel in our state and urged the government to identify, recognize and support them in every possible way.
The BJP MLA from 19-Shillong South said that the state has a huge pool of talented sporting individuals and if their potentials are tapped, with adequate government support Meghalaya will produce national talents who can go on to mount a challenge in the international scene.
