Ampati,June 4: A mass tree plantation and cleaning drive was undertaken at the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner’s Office compound and all government offices and educational institutions on June 4, the eve of World Environment Day .
The day was observed as Clean and Green Day as part of the World Environment Day celebrations wherein the Deputy Commissioner H D B Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner D D Shira and other officers planted tree saplings around the DC’s office complex in Ampati. The tree plantation was followed by a cleaning drive participated by the all the officers and staff of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and amalgamated branches.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner H D B Sangma led the participants in taking the “Going Green” pledge which was followed by distribution of tree saplings to officers, staff and other participants.
