Special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly call to pass the Meghalaya GST Bill

Shillong, June 05: The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is call to sit and to pass the Draft Meghalaya GST Bill’s 2017. The session will be held on coming Monday.

Speaking to media person after the cabinet meeting today he said that, implementation of the Gross State Tax (GST) will take place from 1st July 2017 and all taxses will subsume into one. To do this the state need to pass this legislative mandate in the Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister said that he has already written to the Governor of the state and to the Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly requesting to call for this special session on the 12th June 2017. He said that all the members of the august house will have a say on this.

The Chief Minister said that there is legislative binding clause that the lostses to state the central government will have to compensate at the average of 14% of the existing revenue collection, but for the state of Meghalaya the Chief Minister is confidence that collection will be above the projected percentage.

The cabinet today also approved the State Road Safety Policy, with this policy is to ensure that accidental death will reduce and from the state government also will have to take many step to see that accident in the state is reduce to save precious lives.

The Cabinet has also approved the extension of one more year to the Chief technical adviser to the MeECL  on transmission and distribution.
