Special trains are running from point to point for sending and receiving such stranded persons

Maligaon, May 06: Shramik Special Trains which started operations from various locations of the country from “Labour Day” that is  1st May,2020 are being run continuously to move migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places due to lock down as per the guideline issued by Ministry of Home Affairs.

These special trains are running from point to point on the request of both the concerned State Governments as per the standard protocols for sending and receiving such stranded persons.

It is mentioned here that only those persons enlisted by the State Governments and brought to the station can travel in these special trains and no individual shall come to any Railway station on their own.

Shramik Special train (06088) which was operated on receipt of requests from the state governments of Bihar and Kerala and left Kozhikode Kerala for Katihar Jn (Bihar) with 1090 migrant labourers on 03.05.20, reached Katihar yesterday (05.05.2020) at 8.55 pm.

The passengers who are mostly migrant labourers from various districts of Bihar were received by civil administration at Railway station after following all necessary Covid-19 protocols. The station was properly barricaded and adequate RPF, GRP, and local police personnel were deployed to guard the station to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons.

Migrant labourers were guided by RPF and GRP personal in queues after de-boarding from train for proper screening by state government officials by maintaining social distancing and later they were accommodated in buses for despatch to their respective districts.

Another Shramik Special train 09827 which was operated on receipt of requests from the state governments of Bihar and Rajasthan and left from Kota (Rajasthan) on 05.05.20 for Katihar Jn (Bihar) with 1248 students reached Katihar today (06.05.2020 ) at 08.00 am.

The students who are from 04 districts viz Katihar, Purnea, Araria and Kishanganj of Bihar were received at the station by civil administration after following all necessary Covid-19 protocols. The station was properly barricaded and adequate RPF, GRP, and local police personnel were deployed to guard the station from all sides to prevent entry of unauthorized persons. Senior Railway, State & Police administration officials were present.

The students were found to be very happy and relaxed on reaching Katihar which was clearly visible on their faces. They were thankful to Railways and State Government officials for executing the entire process smoothly.

Another Shramik Special train which left Jaipur yesterday reached Katihar today at 1:30 pm with 1181 persons on board. Four other Shramik Special trains which will start today from places like Nandurbar, Kozhikode, Surat and Hisar today will be reaching its destination at Katihar and Purnea in coming days with persons stranded at different places due to lock down.

At this point of time of crisis faced by the nation, all officers and staff of the Indian Railways are committed to serve our fellow Indians and seeks everyone’s support and cooperation to deal with the critical situation.
