Student Council, MLCU hosted a Pre-Christmas Celebration, 2021 at the university’s Campus

Shillong, Dec 14: The Student Council, Martin Luther Christian University hosted a Pre-Christmas Celebration on December 14, 2021 at the university’s Campus. This year Christmas celebrations were also attended by the members of the Blind Lead Trust organization as the special guest. \

The Blind Lead Trust is an organization that empowers visually impaired individuals as they strive for more inclusion in our society and the community. Songs and dances were performed by the students, faculty and the staff of the university, bringing in the Christmas cheer.

Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor, Prof. T K Kharbamon spoke about the spirit of Christmas and how this is a special time to spread joy, peace and love to everyone. She talked about lonely and the destitute that were ignored by the society, and how their spirits were lifted because of Christmas.

She also added thatintelligent and educated people who are respected by the society can do so much to uplift the condition of lonely and the destitute and she compared them to the three wise men who brought gifts for Jesus Christ on his birthday.

A “Santa sleigh” was organized for the staff and students to donate gift items for the members of the Blind Lead Trust. The donations include clothes, shoes and several other gifts from the students, faculty and staff of MLCU for we believe that giving is a way to mark the special occasion and it makes Christmas more meaningful.
