Sweat Out Glory In crowned champions of the Open Futsal Tournament

Shillong, October  01: An intense final of the 1st Open Futsal Tournament saw Sweat Out Glory In crowned champions after they defeated Gunners FC 6-3 at the Indoor Stadium in the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex here on Saturday.

A great success, the three-day tournament brought together 32 teams and witnessed highly engaging matches throughout. The competition was organised by the Futsal Association of Meghalaya (FAM) with support from the Futsal Association of India and District Sports Promotion Society, East Khasi Hills.

The title match was a fitting climax with momentum swinging between both finalists for much of the game until Sweat Out Glory In pulled away towards the end and finished three goals ahead.

For the concluding day’s proceedings E Kharmalki, Director of Urban Affairs and Secretary of MUDA, was the chief guest, while GM Roy Lakiang, CEO of Banalari World Cars, was the guest of honour.

At the closing ceremony the champions’ goalkeeper Kerimehi Kharmujai was named as the Best Player and received his cheque and trophy from Aniket Kesarkar, the COO of the Futsal Association of India.

The chief guest and guest of honour then presented the runners-up and winners with their cheques, medals and trophies.

Earlier, before the final, Dr Brightstar Langbang, President of FAM, welcomed the dignitaries and requested further support to grow the sport of futsal in Meghalaya for the benefit of the state’s youth. Mr Kharmalki, in his speech, also congratulated FAM for take the initiative in promoting futsal and pledged further support for the Association.
