The 12-day Dwijing Festival kicks off  at Aie River Park, Hagrama Bridge in Chirang

Guwahati, Dec 28: The much anticipated Dwijing Festival began today at the Aie River Park, Hagrama Bridge in Chirang. The 3rd edition of festival was inaugurated by Rihon Daimary Hon’ble Minister, PHE, Govt. of Assam.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rihon Daimaray said, “Today, on its 3rd year of inception, the festival has set a benchmark for itself. We have people coming from all parts of the country – both national and international. In the coming years, we aim to make this festival and Aie River a tourist hub for the nation.”

Shri Gautam Talukdar -Deputy Commissioner, Chirang District cum President Dwijing Festival 2018-19 hoisted the flag of the event. The festival which begun today will continue till 7th January’2019.

The day began with a marathon race from Chapaguri to AIE River flagged off by International Boxer L.Sarita Devi (Arujana Awardee). It was followed by the inauguration of Food stalls by Shri Chandan Brahma, Hon’ble Minister, Tourism and WPT & BC, Govt. of Assam.

The day also witnessed the opening of Bodo Traditional House, Book stalls, Traditional stage, Adventure Sports, Dwijing Night camp, Demonstration and opening of Rifle Shooting, Jeep and Elephant Safari among others.

The second half of the day witnessed cultural programs by various tribes, a fireworks show, performances from Bangladesh, Performance by Singer Anaya Brahma and popular singer popular singer Kailash Kher.
