The 3 day Regional Chess meet 2017 organised by JNV Niangbari, Ri Bhoi District concluded

Shillong August 4: The 3 day Regional Chess meet 2017 organised by the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Niangbari, Ri Bhoi District came to an end yesterday at the JNV premises, Niangbari where in the Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, Mr. C.P.Gotmare, graced the closing ceremony as a Chief Guest. In all 314 students from 51 schools of the JNVs N.E. Region participated in the meet.

Addressing the gathering the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the participants particularly the winners of the meet and highly landed the efforts made by the school management in organizing the programme which is a platform for the young students to showcase their talents in the field of sports, know each other, interact and share their ideas and to bring unity and togetherness among the student community besides their academic career.

Mr. Gotmare expressed his happiness over the huge response of the students participated in the competition and urged the organizer that such meet be time and again held to give students a chance to display and excel in their talent so that they can build their own stand in their life to come. He emphasis the role of chess in the development of mind and value like patience, success and failure among the children which is essential.

Smti. K.Sagarika, Principal JNV, Niangbari in her speech thanked the participants, teachers and particularly the judges for their aid in the successful conduct of the meet involving 314 students and 60 escort teachers.

Other speaking on the day were Mr. T.H.B. Singh, Secretary Meghalaya Chess Association, Mr. J.P. Choudhary, PGT and Mr. R.K.Jha presided over the function. The day ended with the distribution of certificate of participation to the students as the result is yet to declare.
