The 6th Vajra winter games gets under way in EAC, 20 teams participate

Shillong, November 01: The sixth annual ‘Vajra Winter Games-2017’ was declared open by Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar, Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ Eastern Air Command (EAC) on 31 October 2017 at Upper Shillong.

The Games began with a volleyball match played between teams of HQ EAC and CRPF, which was won by HQ EAC in three straight sets.

The Vajra Winter Games are organised by HQ EAC to promote camaraderie and jointmanship amongst military, paramilitary and civilian officials while also fostering inter-services relations, togetherness, mutual understanding and harmony. The Vajra Games also promote the spirit of sportsmanship among the participants and give an opportunity to athletes to exhibit their talent.

A total of 20 teams from nine organisations (HQ 101 Area Army, State Secretariat, Shillong Golf Club, CRPF, BSF, Directorate General Assam Rifles, Meghalaya Basketball Association, East Khasi Hills Badminton Association) including HQ EAC are participating in five disciplines that include volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, badminton and golf.
