The Academy Trust, Bengaluru is organizing a science outreach in Shillong

Shillong, November 01: The Academy Trust, Bengaluru is organizing a science outreach programme for students of classes 11 and 12 students on 1st November at the St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

The Trust was set up in August 2014 as a non-governmental entity under the  auspices of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru. One of the key objectives of the Academy Trust is to put in efforts to exposing children to the marvels of science and to make them interested in learning the basic concepts of science and motivating them.

The Trust will collaborate with other organizations in jointly implementing these programmes. Organizing popular science talks, science quizes, science experiments, demo cum lectures and videos for inculcating scientific temper, developing knowledge, skill, mind and character for the school students.

This time around, the Trust is organizing a half-day programme in Shillong on the sidelines of the 83rd Annual Meeting of the Indian Academy of Sciences which is being held at the North Eastern Hill University Campus, Shillong from 3-5 November 2017.

Theprogramme is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at  Anton Hall of the School .  It will comprise of a popular talk on Biotechnology by Dr S R Joshi  (NEHU), Quiz competition  on Health and  Diseases in NE region by Dr Adithya Kumar (Tezpur University) and  demonstration of science experiments by TREE foundation.

Among other objectives, the Academy Trust wants to build a strong relationship with Industries in all possible areas on recognizing the importance and need for academia and industry interaction. tAcT aims to jointly participate in research and development, consultancy, and education manpower training and desires to club its efforts by combining with the industries’ expertise and resources.
