Shillong, Dec 20: The Assam Public Works (APWs) today submitted the memorandum to the Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma urging him to take up the issue with the Union Government for the implementation of one Inner Line Permit in the whole North East.
Speaking to media after meeting the APWs Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad said that they have come here and submitted a memorandum, regarding one Inner Line permit for the entire North east, they are proposing and regarding the sale of land, this was in line with the overall concern that the people of North East have regarding the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 and how the indigenous people are protected and insulated.
“I think this is a very genuine and they have requested me to take this up with the central government and with home ministry, so I will raise the issued and will see what reaction and will what kind of support and reply will get from the centre. So I will try to speak and I will try to take up the matter, it is a genuine matter, let us hope for the best.”
The President of the APWs Mr Mr Aabhijeet Sharma told the media that, they all come after knowing that the union Home Minister want to meet the Chief Minister of Meghalaya after Christmas, their coming today at his official resident is to requested him to place before the union home minister for one Inner Line Permit for the whole of North East.
The President of the APWs said their coming to submit the memorandum to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, because he can speak not only for Meghalaya but also for the whole north east and also for Assam, he accepted the proposal and he assured that he will place it before the union home minister.
Mr Aabhijeet Sharma said, “ This is the only last hope we can save north East, if we think for Meghalaya separately, Manipur separately, Arunachal Pradesh separately, this is not the way to solve the problems we think together we can save north east with one Inner Line Permit that through the chicken neck Assam Bengal Border we need that first of all we knows very well about his state we know well about our state so we can work together”.
When we see for the strong voice come from Meghalaya Chief Minister and quick reaction from the home minister so we thing that he is the right person to save north East that why we come to meet him. Said Mr Mr Aabhijeet Sharma president APWs along with him Mr Dhruba Joyti Talukdar, Mr Ghanashyam Kalita and Rajib Deka member of the APWs were also present in the meeting with the Meghalaya Chief Minister.
