The bank to create projects to help the youths in finding self employment: RC Laloo

Jowai,July 01: The 61st State Bank Day celebration was organized by SBI Ladthalaboh today at North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Mookyrdup, Jowai in which Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Prof. R.C Laloo graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Shri. R.Muthu, Assistant General Branch Manager, RBO-VI, Shillong Shri. D.K Choudhury Staffs of SBI Ladthadlaboh, Principal of North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Shri. B.R Uriah were also present.

Speaking as the Chief Guest Prof. R.C Laloo appreciated the service provided by the Bank to the public. He lauded the Bank for its excellent services it has rendered throughout these 210 years. Sharing his experience he said, nowadays banking has become much easier, because of the electronic banking system it has adopted, where all services can be done from home. He also gave a suggestion the bank to create projects to help the youths in finding self employment through instating a project formation cell. He expressed his happiness to have these vigilant people like Shri. Samuel Suchiang and Mrs Mon Dkhar in his constituency who have a sense of responsibility that  save the ATM robbery attempt on the 1stFebruary, 2016.

The Assistant General Manager, Shri. D.K Choudhury in his welcome address gave a brief history of the existence of the Bank, the State Bank of India was formerly known as Imperial Bank of India. The Imperial Bank of India established on January 27, 1921 was an amalgamation of three Presidency banks of colonial India bank of Bengal established in 1806, Bank of Bombay and Bank of Madras. The Imperial Bank of India transformed into SBI on 1st July, 1955 as per the State Bank Act 1955.

He thanked the customers for their trust and faith on the Bank and assured to serve the customers better in years to come. He said, we are proud to serve you and will continue to serve with dedication.

Congratulating the SBI for its 210 years Shri. R.Muthu Superintendent of Police being himself the customer of the Bank said was happy to be part of the Bank which has help him in saving, he therefore,  encourage the students to have a habit of saving any small amount right from childhood that will help them to understand the value of money as well as importance of saving.

The State Bank of India also awarded Shri. Samuel Suchiang & Mrs Mon Dkhar for their act of bravery in saving the ATM at Ladthadlaboh branch from an attempt theft on the night of 1stFebruary, 2016 Cash prize of Rs. One Lakh and memento was awarded to them. Prizes were also distributed to the winner of the drawing completion organized by the SBI Lathadlaboh Branch.
