Shillong, December 12: The blueprint of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Shillong on December 16 will be ready on Wednesday when the Special Protection Group (SPG) team arrives in Meghlaya.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner P S Dkhar said on Monday that the
details of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be available
only on Wednesday after the arrival of the SPG team.
The deputy commissioner convened a meeting of various departments and police officials to discuss the preparedness for the visit of the Prime Minister.The need to repair roads, installation of barricades and welcome arch were discussed in the meeting.
The public health engineering department was asked to provide sufficient water connections at the State Convention Centre where Modi will attend a government function.
The deputy commissioner also asked the health department officials to alert the hospitals including NEIGRIHMS to be prepared during the visit of the Prime Minister. A police official said security preparations were under way and theminute details would be worked out with the SPG team.
The state BJP leaders met the deputy commissioner and discussed about the public rally being organised by the BJP at Polo Ground.The meeting suggested the fifth ground for the address of the Prime Minister subject to approval of the SPG.Earlier in May last year, the Prime Minister had addressed the crowd
at Polo Ground from the same ground.
According to the tentative programme, Modi will land at Upper Shillong helipad on Saturday at 1 pm and proceed straight to the State Convention Centre followed by his address at Polo Ground.Later, he will proceed to ALG in Upper Shillong where he may meet various religious leaders.
