Shillong, Dec 04: The Bio-Resources Development Centre (BRDC), a Government of Meghalaya Institution under Science and Technology Cell, Planning Department in collaboration with the Quality Council of India, Government of India is conducting a One Day Sensitization Programme on Voluntary Certification Scheme for Traditional Community Healthcare Providers on 6thDecember, 2018 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong.
About 78 Traditional Healers will be attending this sensitization programme. Prof. Debjani Roy, Adviser, Quality Council of India and Shri Hariramurthi, Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT), Bangalore will be the Resource Persons for the programme. Prof. D. Khathing, Vice Chancellor, North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur will also be present at the programme. It may be mentioned that NECU has been approved as Personal Certification Body in the North East.
Further, the Bio-Resources Development Centre with a mission to promote and uplift the traditional healing system and cultural heritage and with funding support from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for the project “Support to the Traditional Healers for Strengthening and Capacity Building” under Article – 275 (1) has conducted Block Level Awareness-cum-Traditional Healing Health Camp at 39 Blocks and Training to the Traditional Healers in collaboration with NEIAH, Shillong.
The training have been conducted for 11 Districts across the State and as part of improving the traditional healing practices, a One Day Programme will be conducted at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on 7th December, 2018 for “Distribution of Tools and Kits to the capacitated Traditional Healers under this project”.
About 585 Traditional Healers as beneficiaries will be attending this programme. Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mr A. L. Hek will grace the programme as the Chief Guest.
