The BSF and Meghalaya Police seized dry betel nut from Durbeta village worth 18 Lakhs

Shillong, July 31: The Border security force in Meghalaya continues its efforts to curb smuggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Acting on tip off, on 30th July 2020, a Joint Operation was carried out by BSF troops of 170 Bn and Meghalaya Police in the Village Durbeta, under P.S Rongra, Distt. South Garo Hills of Meghalaya and seized 140 bags of dry betel nut worth more than 18 Lakhs.

Mr  Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General, Meghalaya Frontier said that, “Operational capabilities of BSF is not effected by COVID -19 Pandemic and BSF making its best efforts to curb smuggling activities of criminals on International Border of Meghalaya.’’

 

He also applauded the Meghalaya Police for their active participation in the joint operation and wished that such operation may be continued.
