The BSF apprehended 03 persons and seizes two vehicles loaded with 30 nos cattle

Shillong, May 08: On a specific intelligence received that cattle laden trucks will cross through Baghmara area and further these cattle laden trucks will unload near international border for further smuggling into Bangladesh. As soon as the information was received, a special Mobile Check Post was laid by the troops of BOP Baghmara, Ex 141 BN BSF at Baghmara, PS Baghmara, Distt- South Garo Hills.

Later troops deployed on duty had observed some vehicles moving rapidly on the Hill Road towards bagmara. MCP party directed and tried to stop the vehicle near a Petrol Pump of NH-62 Baghmara, but they did not stop and fled away. After persuiting for about 15 minutes, they intercepted the vehicles near Jacksogram village under PS Baghmara, Distt South Garo hills on NH-62.

One driver with vehicle registration No. MH-04-HD 8521 along with 02 carriers/co-drivers were apprehended from the vehicle on NH 62 near Jackogram village wheras Driver and carriers/co-drivers of truck bearing Registration No. AS 16-C-6830 managed to escape. The party apprehended 03 Indian nationals along with 02 vehicles (Tata Eicher) loaded with 30 No’s cattle . These cattle were meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh.

It is mentioned that the smugglers trying to smuggle cattle from unfenced area but the vigilant BSF Jawans always foil their attempts. Resultantly the smugglers have also tried to smuggle cattle through fenced area by fence breaching at  the several instances. All the seized items handed over to concerned department for further legal action. It is also to mention that IG BSF, Meghalaya has deployed additional troops   to fill the gaps for effective border domination.
