Shillong, Feb 06: The BSF troops deployed at BOP Kapasipara, South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya observed 02 trucks coming from Gasuapara approaching towards Sibbari via Hill road near International Border on 03rdFeb’ 2019.
The BSF party stopped the vehicles and conducted search in which they found that both the trucks were over loaded with cattle. Party nabbed seven Indian cattle smugglers with 53nosof cattle which were supposed to be smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
The apprehended personswere identified NajrulHaq, Chebed Ali, Jahirul Islam, Abdul Islam, Saved Ali, Sakowat Ali, Abhas Ali, All the apprehended person belong to the state of Assam.
The BSF also seized both the trucksin which cattle were laden by smugglers. Besides Indian currency Rs. 19,150/- and 07 Nos mobilewere also recovered from them.
It is worth mentioning here that carrying so many cattle in a truckis cruelty against the animals. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent trans-border crimes.
The Cattle smugglers have been trying and adopting new routes to transport cattle towards international border areas to further smuggle them to Bangladesh.
In another incidents the troops of BSF deployed at Tuka, Nayabazar, Umsiyem, Muktapur, all of East Khasi Hills district and OP Shella of East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, seized more than 44 Nos cattle while being smuggled out to Bangladesh from India.
Smugglers are using different disguised techniques to smuggle the cattle from India to Bangladesh but BSF troops are frequently foiling such attempts of smugglers. BSF troops are also facing problem while disposing seized cattle as after the order of Supreme Court, seized animals are required to be handed over to Police which sometimes shows reluctance in taking over these animals.
Several seized cattle are still stocked at many Border out Posts due to delay in further disposal.Apprehended persons and seized items handed over to concern department for further legal action.
