The BSF Frontier HQ Shillong, celebrated “BSF Wives Welfare Association Day”

Shillong, Sept 18: Border Security Force Frontier HQ Shillong, on 18th Sept 2019, celebrated “BSF Wives Welfare Association Day” (BWWA) with great pomp and show. BWWA is a non-profitable organization which trains and assists wives of BSF personnel as well as their children and their widows in areas of skill generation, education, introducing new opportunities, career counseling, health, life style, housing and sharing/ resolving their problems so that they can face challenges of life with ease. BWWA also inculcates the sense of belongingness among wards of BSF.

At the onset, Smt. Chitra Nayal, Secretary, BWWA Shillong, welcomed all the members from various Units and Sectors under BWWA, BSF Frontier HQ Shillong. Smt. Sunita Saini, President BWWA was the Chief Guest.

The programme covered wide canvas of activities like Cooking competition, anchoring competition, fashion-show, composition of Pujathali competition, dance and fancy dress show followed by colourful cultural programme.

The participation of 21 BSF widows (Kalyani members) and 03 disabled children with nearly 500 BWWA members along with  their families was heartwarming. Lastly, the president BWWA distributed prizes to deserving participants.

Smt. Sunita Saini, President BWWA in her address appreciated the valuable contribution of “BWWA” in upliftment of Jawan’s families in BSF. She also remembered the sacrifice of the sentinels of border whose widows were also witnessing the “BWWA” day.

She then urged “BWWA” to undertake multidimensional activities to address the problems of jawans’ families by organizing vocational training along with health awareness programmes. A ‘Barhakhana’ for all the BWWA family members of BSF Frontier Meghalaya was also organized.
