Shillong, Dec 13: On sustained efforts of BSF, a joint operation on destruction of illegally cultivated hemp was carried out Under the Supervision of Mr B D Sangma, Additional Magistrate South West Garo Hills District has destroy huge quantity of illégal cultivated hemp under Mahenderganj police station.
The opération has been don in the présence of the District administration of the South West Garo Hills District along with the BSF under Tura sector. During the operation, approx 2500-2600 plants in 32 patches of cultivated land of hemp have been destroyed.
This 32 patch of land owned by Smti Rattna Mani Koch, Smti Gulumani Koch, Mr Joganand Koch, Smti Komalini Koch, Mr Uttam Barman, Smti Ranjeela Koch , Mr Green Hajong , Mr Anon Kumar Hajong ,Smti Devitha Hajong, Mr Ganesh Hajong, all are résidents of Indian Kuligaon, Bilpara, Dakskhipara Khatapara village.
Further, Addl. Magistrate intimated that the date for destruction of remaining illegal cultivated hemp in 40-45 patches will be conveyed after discussion with DC, Ampati. All these cultivated hemp is meant for smuggling purpose and exposed nexus between Ganja Syndicates and villagers of above village.
