The BSF nabs one Indian drug trafficker on international border from Dawki Bridge

Shillong, Sept 22: The BSF troops deployed at Dawki, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya noticed a suspicious movement on International border when on 20thSept 2018 the BSF Ambush party,  intercepted a vehicle one vehicle TATA 407 bearing No.AS-01, FC-1832 loaded with some cartons of suspected drugs or medicines near Dawki Bridge over river Piyang on National Highway-40.

One Indian national namely Mr Charles Khongboshi of  Pongtund  village, of East Khasi Hills District Meghalaya who was driving the vehicle was coming from Pynursla side and heading towards Dawki. During the search Special Operation party recovered Medicine Practine Syrup – 4680 bottles total worth more than Rs.6.66 Lacs.

It is mentioned that the codeine-laced cough syrup is consumed in Bangladesh in large quantities, against the recommended small doses, to get a kick. With the consumption of alcohol prohibited in Bangladesh, Phensedyl addiction has been on the rise. He was apprehended by the BSF Troopers.

The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent such illegal transporting of medicine and drugs along International Border in Meghalaya. The apprehended persons and seized items handed over to the concerned department for further disposal.
