The BSF of Meghalaya organized Civic Action Programme at Harai Village EJH District

Shillong, Jan 26:In the series of various initiatives taken by Border Security Force to assist the border area population, as a confidence building measure 97 Bn BSF under SHQ BSF Jowai and Frontier HQ BSF Meghalaya organised a Civic Action Programme on 25th January at BOP Harai, to support poor and destitute people facing hardships due to restrictions in border locations owing to COVID-19.

During the Civic Action Programme (CAP), under the supervision of Sh HS Rawat, Commandant 97 Bn BSF various items as per the requirements of the villagers such as Water filters, Hot water bottles, Shamiyana & Kanats with all accessories, Cotton durries, Printer Cartridges were distributed.

In addition, keeping in view of Covid-19 situation, various essential items for health & hygiene including Sanitary napkins, V Wash, Cotton bandages, Sanitizers, Liquid hand wash, Soaps, N-95 Masks and different medicines were also provided to villages.

The CAP programme was attended by approximately 200 villagers including Secretary and headman of village Huroi, Hangeria, Laijuri, Lailong and Borsora. Sh Ajeet Kumar, 2nd in Command, Sh Kamlesh Nayal, Deputy Commandant, Sh Dharmendera Kumar, Assistant Commandant, All Coy Commanders and Insp G of the unit were also present during the event.

The villagers expressed their happiness & gratitude on friendly gesture demonstrated by BSF and immensely appreciated the assistance rendered by 97 Bn Border Security Force during the times of need and requested BSF to continue such events.

Further, Sh HS Rawat, Commandant, 97 Bn BSF reminded local people that BSF is committed to provide all kind of assistance for their well being and assured them, that unit will continue to conduct such CAP activities in future also as per the requirements of villagers.
