The BSF organizes rallies on international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking

Shillong, June 26: The Border Security Force, Frontier Headquarter Meghalaya celebrated  the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26thJune’2018, as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

The day as an event is observed worldwide with much conscious fervor to make people aware and emphasize the hazards of drug addiction and illegal trafficking.

The BSF is determined to fight against the menace of drugs and in this connection organized a huge rally  on 26 June also consisting of BSF personnel of entire units deployed in the area of Shillong and students of BSF Senior Secondary School Umpling, in ten kms stretch in areas of Nongmynsong and NEGHRIHMS as part of its awareness to the society.

The rally was flagged off to spread awareness among the people of Shillong against the Drug abuse and it’s illicit trafficking from Ftr HQ BSF. The Students in huge number participated in this campaign with banners and hoardings.  Students of BSF Sr. Secondary School  also performed the street plays against the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to spread the awareness. The awareness programme and medical camps were also conducted at the border out post of BSF.

Similar programme was grandly observed by BSF Senior Secondary School, Umpling by performing Rally in local Nongmengsong Area and also participating in Debate Competition, Slogan Writing and Plays against Drug abuse.

Besides above, programmes on the subject also conducted in the all BOPs in the presence of Border Villagers    at Border as well as  Bn HQ Mawpat, Dhanakgre and Dobasipara with participation of  both  BSF personnel and Civilians including children with holding commemorative posters/banners displaying Motto Anti-Drug Day.

Troops with holding banners/posters also rallied up to nearby market Nongmynsong to publicly mark 26th June as International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking.    Anti-Durg day was also majestically observed by border deployed troops  at International Border of Meghalaya with participation of maximum available troops.
