The BSF seizes three trucks loaded with cattle from Baltoli In EKH District today

Shillong, September 26: The BSF continues its Anti-Cattle Smuggling drive, once again seized 64 cattle during Monday night. Acting on a tip off, in area of Baltoli, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya about suspected movement of cattle loaded trucks meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh,  on intervening night of 25-26 September ’2017.

Cautious BSF troops carried out anti-cattle smuggling operation and seized 2 cattle loaded trucks alongwith 44 cattle from the area. The cattle were being unloaded for further smuggling to Bangladesh when the alert sentinels of border intercepted them.

Similar seizure of one cattle loaded truck along with 9 cattle were effected by the BSF troops deployed at Dawki, East Khasi Hills district foiling the forced attempt of cattle smugglers who were trying to smuggle large number of cattle from India to Bangladesh. The overall seizure effected by BSF troops was worth more than 36 lacs including 64 cattle, three trucks and other contraband items.

The BSF has continuously been in its drive against the Cattle smugglers. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent Trans-border crimes. The augmented manpower at border keeping in view the possible influx of Rohingyas from Bangladesh has started giving positive results in seizures also at border.

“BSF has been now operating in close coordination with police for foiling such bids of cattle smuggling thorough the bordering area. To check such activities joint operations also being launched with Meghalaya Police” said Sh. U K Nayal, DIG /PRO BSF.
