The BSF team selected to compete in the in AIPDM that will be held in Delhi

Shillong, Oct 08: All India Police Sports Control Board, was raised in 1951 at Delhi to organise various sports events among police forces to develop sportsmanship and team spirit. The Border Security Force Subsidiary Training Centre, Indore organized 10thForce Level Inter Frontier Badminton Championship, 2018 from 03rd to 06thOct’ 2018 at CSWT Indore.

Total 14 teams of BSF drawn from various Frontiers and Training Institutions with more than 150 participants in all ranks participated in this Championship for various categories i.e Open Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles. After a neck to neck competition, this is for the first time when Meghalaya frontier has won this prestigious tournament.

The BSF Meghalaya Team consisting of Sh. N Ganguly, Commandant, Sh. Harish Chandra, Second-in-Command, Sh. P C Devrani, Deputy Commandant, SI Ravikant, ASI C C Pandey, ASI Sheeshraj, Const Nagraj and Const Kamani Barman participated  in this Tournament and showed exemplary team efforts. This was the first time when other ranks also competed with the officers as earlier it was only for officers exclusively.

Mr  Harish Chandra, Second-In-Command also won three individual Gold Medals in Singles and two other double’s events partnering with Sh. P C Devrani and ASI C C Pandey. BSF Meghalaya Frontier won overall Team Championship among all the BSF Teams beating team of Force Headquarter BSF New Delhi in the finals after a close contest.

Selected BSF team will now compete in All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) which will be organised at Delhi. The BSF has an illustrative background in sports with 2 Padmashree and 17 Arjuna award.
