The BSF to welcome New Year by conducting medical Camp at Umsyiem village in the IB

Shillong, Dec 30: When the world is busy celebrating the Christmas and welcoming the New Year, the team of doctors from BSF composite Hospital, Shillong is continuing its service to humanity, especially for the inhabitants of Indo Bangladesh border villages by conducting medical camp at Umsyiem village in the International border with Bangladesh.

The BSF started the medical camp in different villages in the Indo Bangladesh border as part of the New Year preparation from the month of November and continued to 29 December. During the medical camp a total of   210 border inhabitants where screen during the month of November, on 29th December 105 needy persons were given the vision corrective glasses. 03 persons were operated upon for cataract under the national blindness control programme.

During multi-specialty camp organized by Composite Hospital, BSF Shillong under the supervision of Dr. A C Bhardwajan, Medical Superintendent, 87 persons of Border villages of Dawki and Umsyiem were screened for ENT ailment, Hepatitis B and  C and diabetes.

The persons, who had been detected with ailment of ENT, requiring surgical corrective procedures, will be provided the treatment facility at BSF Composite Hospital, Shillong free of cost. Those detected as case of diabetes have been provided required medicine and their follow-up checking & treatment will be done by BSF regularly.

The multi specialties camp was inaugurated Dr. A C Bhardwajan, DIG, Medical Supdt. of BSF and  Shri. S R Khan, Commandant 30 Bn BSF, jointly. Speaking of the occasion, the Headman of the area thanked BSF in general and  Composite Hospital, BSF in particular for extending such humanitarian service, right at the door step of border inhabitants. He expressed gratitude to BSF for providing vision corrective glasses to needy on the eve of New Year.

Such gift for Christmas & New Year is really very touching, he said. While concluding the multi-specialty camp Dr. A C Bhardwajan, DIG, BSF assured the border inhabitants for more such camps regularly and all out help to needy people. During the year 2018 BSF organized  11 medical camps for the needy border populace. Besides these camps BSF has been organizing several civic action programme for the needy people at border.
