Shillong, July 21: The people of Meghalaya are passionate for football, “I one to see Meghalaya to be a power house for football in the country”. The vision document of the football mission will be releasing tomorrow, said the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma.
In this football mission, the intention is to harness the young talents of the youth in the state. With this mission the government will encourage the young people in football, starting from the village level, block level, district level and at the state level. The government initially will help to improve the existing infrastructure.
To roll out this mission the government have set aside with the budget allocation Rs.560 cores, this will be known as top up money to any organization who promote football with an assistant up to 30% of the project cost with a selling up to Rs 75 Lakh. The government will also encourage corporate houses to open up spot academy in the state. The government will not provide land, if any want to set up spot academy they have to manage in their own.
The football mission will be launch tomorrow in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at polo with the inaugural march between the top Indian player footballer and the top North East player footballer. The inauguration will be at 5.00 pm .
