Shillong, May 26: The Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Mr. Titosstarwell Chyne written to the CEM of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KACC) Dr. Tuliram Ronghang reminding that the boundary dispute between Meghalaya and Assam has not been resolved till date.
This includes the areas under the jurisdiction of the KHADC adjacent to the areas under KAAC that is areas known as Block II. This non settlement of the border dispute has created a lot of problems and the people residing in the border have faced a lot of difficulties in the past and the situation is getting worse day by day.
This long pending issue required our commitment to solved once and for all at the earliest, in order tobring back peace, tranquility, normalcy, development and avoid law and order situation that may arise in future.
In this regard; the CEM of the KHADC suggest that a special meeting may be held between K.H.A.D.C and KAAC to discuss the matter thoroughly and the outcome may be submitted to our concern state government for necessary action.
The CEM of the KHADC appeal that peace be maintain at all cost and harassment of any sort to the residents especially the Khasi Pnar communities should be stopped in order to respect the sentiment and their fundamental right as enshrined under the Constitution of India. The CEM of the KHADC hope it counter parts will consider this initiative.
