The Chairman of the militants ZUF of Manipur arrested in Jaintia Hills District

Shillong, August 20: The Superintendent of Police Mr Vivek Syiem of West Jiantia Hills District, of Meghalaya said that the police had arrested the Chairman of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) of Manipur from Phramer area.

The Police said that they have received information that the top leaders of the ZUF were traveling from Silchar to Guwahati by night super, base on this information the police have put naka at Phramer , during the checking the night super bearing the registration number AS01-JC-1300 at 2.30 Am today the police managed to  arrested two mem suspected to be members of the ZUF.

The arrested person were identified as Mr Raitu Chawang 66 years Chairman of the ZUF and Gengchung Pou Namthuiyang 43 years Secretary of the organization were arrested by the police special cell of West Jiantia Hills from their possession four mobiles phone were recovered.

During the preliminary inquiry these two tops leaders of the militants outfit confess that they were on their way to Guwahati, the ZUF have their own military wing know as Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF). Both the militants’ leaders were book under section 41 of the CrPC. Both were wanted in Tamenglong District of Manipur. This was inform to the police counterpart in Manipur about the arrest.
