The Chief Minister Mr Conrad assured the KDA to look into thier grievances

Shillong, March 28: The Khasi Disabilities Association today called on Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma in his office and submitted a charter of demands seeking his interventions.

The Chief Minister has assured to look into their grievances.He has called for a joint meeting of the organisation along with the officials of the concern departments and Minister Social Welfare after the Budget Session next month.

The organisation has requested the Chief Minister to fully implement 4 per cent of the Reservation Policy for Persons with Disabilities as announced by the Central Government through the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances and has assured that on a priority basis the issues of concern for the disabilities would be look at.

He also assured to look into various other requests of the organisation with regard to development of infrastructure for disabilities and other facilities which are to be made available to them.

The other issues raised by the organisation were 5 percent special allotment permit for local taxis in all districts for the disabled persons, who want to apply for a loan under the National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation, 5 percent reservation from the Scheme Pradhan Mantri Awass Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), special recruitment drive to fill up backlog recruitment for persons with disabilities in State Government Department.
