The Chief Secretary Govt of Meghalaya, Mr Thangkhiew launched the Online RTI Portal

Shillong, Oct 03: The Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Shri. P S Thangkhiew launched the Online RTI Portal on the 30th September 2019 at the Committee Room 2, Main Secretariat Building, Shillong in the presence of the Additional Chief Secretary, Smti. R V Suchiang, Smti. R Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary, Shri. T Dkhar, DDG and SIO NIC, Meghalaya and other officers. The Deputy Commissioners attended the function through Video Conferencing along with the PIOs and Nodal Officers.

The Chief Secretary urged the Deputy Commissioners to make use of this facility in order to serve the people of the State better and to improve the delivery mechanisms, so that there will be transparency and accountability in providing services to the citizens of the State.

The Portal will facilitate applicants seeking information under the Right to Information Act. The Portal can be accessed by the general public on the Hone Page http://megrti.gov.in by clicking in “Online RTI”. In the first phase the portal will be enabled for filing of RTI to all the PIOs in the Deputy Commissioners’ Offices and subsequently for all the POIs in the State.

There is an online payment gateway for making payment of requisite fees under the RTI Act. The Portal facilitates online reply to application and also for making first appeal and reply thereto.

Applicants seeking information under the RTI Act can mane use of the online portal. The details of RTI applicants received through post could be entered into this system. The citizens can also check the real time status of their RTI applications/ first appeals filed online.
