Shillong, March 06: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the apex industry body of the country, congratulated the incoming Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government in Meghalaya, saying CII would like to work as a close partner of the new Team Meghalaya led by Mr Conrad Sangma, in taking the hill state to fast growth and development.
“Our best wishes go to the new team. CII is confident that in the new dispensation, the State will find a Government which is development driven and responsive to the aspirations of the people, especially the youth,” Mr Mayank Jalan, Chairman, CII North East Council & Managing Director, Keventer Agro Ltd, said in a Press statement.
“We would like to work hand in hand with the new state government for overall growth and development of the State,” Mr Jalan, said. “CII would like to work in Infrastructure, IT/ITES, Food Processing, Agriculture, Tourism and Entrepreneurship Development, the sectors which merit immediate attention,” he said.
Infrastructure Development should be the major thrust area of the new Government, Mr Jalan said, adding that improving connectivity within the state and also with the rest of the country is the urgent need. “This will help promote tourism,” he said.
The other priority areas for the incoming Government in Meghalaya include creating enabling environment for investments, education, skill development and healthcare, he said.
