The Civil Service Day,should be a day of introspection for all officers: T Blah

Shillong, April 23: The Civil Service Day was celebrated in West khasi Hills District.The celebration was organized by the office of the Deputy Commissioner West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin at Trysem Hall,D.C. office campus.

Mr Tokiwaio Blah IAS (rtd) in his address as chief guest lauded the District Administration for celebrating Civil Service Day in a unique way. He reminded the officers present that this day should be a day of introspection for all officers to rededicate their commitment to the citizens and bring about a paradigm shift in service delivery. He reiterated the importance of key qualities in an officer such as patience, accessibility and fairness.He urged them to get to know their public better and to unlearn what they have been taught and learned to be able to deliver better.

Power point presentation on best practices and and success stories were presented by the BDO Mairang ,Executive Engineer PHE, EE Water Resources,  Divisional Officer Soil and Water conservation dept and the office of the superintendent of fisheries.

The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion on “Civil Service in Meghalaya; it’s response to emerging challenges “. The panellists at the discussion were Mr Bobby Majaw,Associate Professor, Sankardev college, Mr  Phyrnai Marbaniang,Retired Deputy Director DIPR, Mr MB Tongper ,EAC Nongstoin and Father Alphonse Wahlang Vice president, NSSS.

The keynote address was delivered by Shri PD Sangma ADC , Nongstoin. The function was chaired by Kum B.Ranee, EAC Nongstoin. Participation of 10 students each from 5 different schools and colleges was an encouraging thing.
