KAS delegation met Rajnath for inclusion of the Khasi language in the eight schedules

Shillong, Jan 12: The delegation of the Khasi Author Society (KAS) recently met the Union Home Minister Mr Rajnath Singh and the Minister of State for Home Mr Kiren Rijiju and submitted to them seven page memorandum to urge the Union Government to include the Khasi language in the eight schedule of the constitution of India.

In the meeting with the Union Minister for home Mr Rajnath Singh told the delegation that he is aware about the demand for the inclusion of the Khasi Language in the constitution of India, the Union Minister told the delegation that he has already discussed the issue with the Prime Minister.

In the meeting with the Union Minister for home, the KAS insisted on the Union Minister to include Bhojpuri, Rajasthani, Bhoti. Khasi and others few others languages in the eight schedule of the Constitution of India.

The delegation also carry the letter of support from the state government for the demand of the Khasi language to be included in the eight schedule, along with the members of the KAS let by its president Dr DRL Nonglait, the cabinet minister for the state government  Mr AL Hek was also present during the meeting with the Union Minister.
