The DEO call all the internet service provider on the issue poor network connectivity

Shillong, April 2, 2019:  Ahead of the ensuing General Elections, 2019 to Lok Sabha and Bye-Election to the 48-Selsella LAC and in view of the urgency of the matter, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills convened a meeting today at his office Chamber with all the mobile internet service providers of the region to discuss the issue of poor network connectivity in the area.

During the meeting, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills Ram Singh directed all the mobile internet service providers and network operators to ensure uninterrupted services especially during election period in the entire Garo Hills region which needs to be intensified from 6th to 12th April 2019 in order to facilitate the smooth conduct of the General elections 2019 to Lok Sabha and Bye-Election to 48-Selsella LAC in the entire district.

He also mentioned that good network connectivity is necessary for functioning of various election related apps like CcVigil, etc., used in during election and added that the issue of connectivity should not hamper the process of election in all districts.

Further, he instructed them that all mobile towers and other related ancillary services should function without ceasing and must make an effort to provide good network connectivity and arrange extra manpower in each mobile tower operation in entire Garo Hills region to provide uninterrupted network connectivity during elections.

Moreover, he had also instructed them to submit written action plan and assurance to the Deputy Commissioner office by 5th April, 2019. The Superintendent of Police, WGH, Dr M G R Kumar and representatives of mobile and internet service providers of the region were present at the meeting.
