The Education Department issue notification to exempt Teachers from census duty

Shillong, March 11: The president of the KJDSA Mr Kular Khongjirem said that the Education Department government of Meghalaya has listen to their request and the notification was issue to exempt Teachers from census duty this year.

Mr Khongjirem said that it was a great relief to the teachers after the state government through the office of the Principal Secretary incharge Education and the office of the Director of School Education and Literacy(DSEL) have taken up the matter seriously to take up with the concern authority to exempt the teachers from census duty this year.

The Principal Secretary Education, Government of Meghalaya and the DSEL have conveyed to the president of KJDSTA today, the 11th March 2020, that they have taken up the matter seriously with the CEO municipality who have already served the appointment letters to many school teachers for census duty.

As some teachers have already left for the MBOSE duty as paper examiners, others are yet to leave for next week. However, there are some teachers who were selected for both MBOSE and Census duty at the same time. If many teachers went both MBOSE and census duty, all classrooms will be left without teachers for months which will badly affect the future study of the students.

Hence, both teachers’ Associations have urged the Education Department to kindly take up the matter with the concern Department to exempt teachers from census duty for this year 2020.

However, the school principals, Headmasters and Headmistress of the schools who wish to exempt those teachers who have been selected for census duty should write to the concerned appointing authority requesting them to exempt the census duty for that teacher for information and necessary action from the Department.

Teachers’ Associations, KJDSTA and GHDSTEA have expressed gratitude to the education department especially the Principal Secretary Education, the DSEL, who have taken keen interest to take up this matter seriously for the best interest of education of the school children in the state.

The education department has written to ten deputy commissioner in the state to exempt the census duty for teachers, this was convey by the education department to the president of KJDSA Mr Kular Khongjirem informing on the decision taken from the department.
