Shillong, March 19: The employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council under banner of the Non Gazetted Employee’s Association (NGEA) to put pressure on the Meghalaya Government to pay their salary that was dues for the last 31 months has come all the way from Tura to hold one day sit in demonstration at Madan Malki, Shillong.
Speaking to media the president of the NGEA Mr. Senora J Arengh said that they have held 30 days sit in demonstration in Tura and three day hunger strike but the Government nor the Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma say anything on their problems faces by the employees of the GHADC.
They have come all the way from Tura to Shillong to hold this one day sit in demonstration is to make the government hear about their problems that they have not received their salary for the last 31 months, as the employees of the GHADC they have suffer a lot even to manage their family’s daily needs.
The president of the NGEA Mr. Senora on his reply to queries said that as per their information the total number of employees is 1700 but as record there are 2400 employees, but they will not question on this only the appointing authority will know better.The reason for all this mess in the GHADC, there is no financial rule.
The President of the NGEA said that if this one day sit in demonstration that was held today in Shillong was not hear by the Government they will sit and decide on the next course of their agitation to demand for their salary.
