The Exercise MILAP of Indo- Bangladesh Command is under way at Umroi Cantonment

Shillong, November 09: The Indo-BBangladesh Armyangladesh Command Post Exercise MILAP 2017 as part of Exercise SAMPRITI 2017 will culminate on 11 November 2017 after a duration of six days with a closing ceremony at Umroi cantonment. Six days of joint training that commenced on 06 November 17 includes understanding of transnational terrorism, developing interoperability and conduct of joint tactical operations.

The 14 officers from Bangladesh Army and 20 officers from the Indian Army have been handpicked to undergo the black board exercise at Umroi Cantonment. Both the contingents have displayed great enthusiasm and professionalism while carrying out discussion on various aspects related to counter insurgency/ counter terrorism. Brigadier General Md Mainur Rahman of the Bangladesh Army is the contingent commander from the Bangladeshi Army side and Brig S Sanjay is leading the Indian Army contingent,

The exercise has been an outstanding  success and has taught valuable lessons to the officers of both the countries. It has been a great learning experience for both the contingents. The camaraderie developed between the two contingents during the course of exercise will assist in enhancing confidence between the two armies which may be called upon to grapple with counter insurgency/ counter terrorist operations. The conduct of these bilateral military exercises is also an important step to uphold the values of peace, prosperity and trust in the region.

The Indo-Bangladesh Joint Training Exercise in its seventh edition will send a strong signal to the world that both India and Bangladesh understand the emerging threat of transnational terrorism and stand shoulder to shoulder united in countering this menace. The exercise has helped the contingent of both the nations in understanding the techniques, tactics and procedures followed by both the armies to counter insurgency/ counter terrorist operations in a multinational terrorism scenario and achieve interoperability in fighting the global menace.
